Arable Land
Below are a few rules you must abide by when using fertilizer containing nitrogen on arable land.

No industry manufactured fertilizer containing nitrogen to be applied during the period 1 September to 1 February (unless crop requirement).

No high available nitrogen e.g. slurry, poultry or liquid digested sewage sludge to be applied on sandy* or shallow** soils between 1 August and 1 November.

* Sandy soils - sand/loamysand/sandy loam textured to 40cm and sand or loamy sand to 80cm. The top soil will contain more than 5% O.M.

** Shallow soils - 40cm or less over chalk, limestone, sandstone. Non-grass or autumn sown crops. No slurry, poultry or liquid digested sewage to be applied between 1 August and 1 November.
